01/ Intro

Asozial - Social Media for the anti-social developers

Asozial is a social media platform designed for anti-social developers who prefer to communicate through code and minimalistic interfaces.

Role

UI/UX Design, Research, Testing

Tools

Figma, Affinity

Duration

4 weeks

02/ Mission

Merging LinkedIn and Tinder together, to let Developers connect without the social pressure

The Problem

Graduated. Motivated. Ready to build.
But finding the right project or collaborators is often harder than expected. Although platforms like LinkedIn, GitHub Explore, CodeTriage, and many others provide plenty of opportunities, the sheer volume of options makes it difficult to discover projects that truly match your skills and interests.

03/ Solution

get the developers together and let them find their right project

your github is your profile

Imagine turning your GitHub profile into a matchmaking profile for developers.

Let your code, projects, and open-source contributions speak for themselves.
Match with developers who share your interests or discover projects that need your skills.

Build together, grow your network, and unlock new career opportunities.

04/ Research

How does the project find its way to the developer, and vice versa?

Source problem

With a background in web development, I knew the problem well:

Junior developers need experience to get hired, but finding the right projects to gain that experience is often overwhelming.

what we have

Looking for Social Media specified for Web Developers:

  • Dev.to
  • LinkedIn Groups
  • GitHub Explore
  • CodeTriage
  • & a lot of sites alike

This mass on social media can be overwhelming for new developers.

interview findings

Breaking into tech shouldn't be this hard.

New developers are expected to have experience before they can get hired, yet gaining that experience isn't easy. They turn to hackathons, open-source, and side projects to build their portfolios, only to face an overwhelming number of options and little guidance on where to start.

05/ Decisions

Meet, collaborate, get experience, a platform for developers to share experience

use github as base

GitHub already contains everything needed to showcase a developer's skills. By analyzing a developer's profile and comparing it with other developers or the requirements of a project, it's easy to identify compatible matches - making it simpler to connect the right people with the right opportunities.

06/ Visuals

just like code, minimal can be enough

simplicity meets functionality

Inspired by GitHub's visual identity, the interface uses a minimal black-and-white palette with accent colors highlighting interactions and key profile elements. Thoughtful spacing and component placement create depth while maintaining a clean visual hierarchy.

07/ Reflection

we found each other, we worked together, the project is done, now what? lessons learned.

matching users or projects
Confront with the core feature from the start

Using Tinder firsthand gave me a clear understanding of its matching mechanics. That insight helped shape the user journey, making it easier to adapt the experience to a platform built for developers.

be more creative with a simple style

The generous spacing leaves room for improvement. While the minimalist layout enhances readability, some areas feel underutilized. Subtle decorative elements, such as the bear mascot, and additional micro-interactions could make the interface feel more engaging without compromising its clean aesthetic.

A project for the future

With a background in web development, I understood the target audience and the challenges they face. That perspective helped me design a matching platform focused on making it easier to discover collaborators and projects. Although development of “Asozial” is currently on hold, I still believe in the concept. With the right execution, it has the potential to become a go-to platform for developers looking for projects, collaborators, or new career opportunities.
