02/ Mission

Bringing the Matching Mechanics of Dating Apps to Developer Networking

The Problem

Graduated. Motivated. Ready to build. The challenge? Finding the right people and projects. While platforms like LinkedIn, GitHub Explore, and CodeTriage offer countless opportunities, their sheer volume makes finding a meaningful match difficult.

03/ Solution

Swipe Right on Your Next Project or Collaborator

your github is your profile

Imagine turning your GitHub profile into a matchmaking profile for developers.

Let your code, projects, and open-source contributions speak for themselves. Match with developers who share your interests or discover projects that need your skills — and build, grow, and connect along the way.

04/ Research

Welcome to Tech: Please Have Experience Before You Start

Source problem

With a background in web development, I knew the problem well:

Junior developers need experience to get hired, but finding the right projects to gain that experience is often overwhelming.

what we have

Looking for Social Media specified for Web Developers:

  • Dev.to
  • LinkedIn Groups
  • GitHub Explore
  • CodeTriage
  • & a lot of sites alike

This mass on social media can be overwhelming for new developers.

interview findings

Breaking into tech shouldn’t be this hard.
New developers need experience to get hired, but gaining that experience is a challenge in itself. Hackathons, open-source, and side projects offer opportunities, yet the overwhelming number of options can make finding the right starting point difficult.

05/ Decisions

Stop Looking for Teammates. Start Matching With Them.

use github as base

GitHub already contains everything needed to showcase a developer's skills. By analyzing a developer's profile and comparing it with other developers or the requirements of a project, it's easy to identify compatible matches - making it simpler to connect the right people with the right opportunities.

06/ Visuals

Creating a Familiar Interface With a Developer-First Aesthetic

simplicity meets functionality

Inspired by GitHub's visual identity, the interface uses a minimal black-and-white palette with accent colors highlighting interactions and key profile elements. Thoughtful spacing and component placement create depth while maintaining a clean visual hierarchy.

07/ Reflection

we found each other, we worked together, the project is done, now what? lessons learned.

Confront with the core feature from the start

Exploring Tinder firsthand helped me understand its matching mechanics and adapt the experience to a platform designed for developers.

be more creative with a simple style

While the generous spacing supports readability, some areas feel underutilized. Subtle decoration and micro-interactions could add personality while keeping the interface clean.

A project for the future

My web development background gave me firsthand insight into the challenges of finding the right projects and collaborators. I used that perspective to design Asozial around a simple goal: making those connections easier. The project is currently on hold, but I still believe in its potential to become a valuable platform for developers looking for their next project, collaboration, or career opportunity.
